Achievements 2017

National Mathematics Champs

Year 9 and Year 13 Teams of Tilak High School proved that they are the best mathematicians in the nation after scooping first place in the Fiji Mathematics Association, Team Mathematics Competition National Final at their respective levels.

The competition was held at Yat Sen Hall on 22nd July 2017 and Tilak High School took part in the competition at all levels.

At the end of the competition, Tilak High School had a total of 15 points accumulated from the two wins and attaining fourth place at Year 12 level. As such Tilak High School became the overall runner up for the Team Mathematics Competition National Final 2017.

This victory was only possible through hard work, sacrifice, determination, and most important of all teamwork.

The Minister's Excellence Award

National Highest Physics & Agriculture 

Melvin Krishan Kumar and Prasant Kumar were 2 of the 22 Year 12 Science and Technology students who received awards from the Honrable Ministry of Education on 4th April 2017 for their impressive achievement in the Year 12 Certificate Examinations last year. Melvin had scored the 96/100 in Physics and Prasant scored 89/100 in  Agricultural Science.

 

    7 Excelled in Mathematics

    7 students of Tilak High School received excellence awards from Fiji Mathematics Association during the FMA Annual Awards on 10 June, 2017. Six students were rewarded for their high performance in Fiji Mathematics Competition (FMC) 2016.

    While Gahyeon Yun was rewarded with excellence award for attaining full marks in the Fiji Mathematics Competition.

    Hindi Traditional Dance Competition

    Risha (Year 1101) and Poonam of (Year 1105) represented Tilak High School in the 2017 Hindi Traditional Dance Competition organised by Ministry of Education, Heritage & Arts, Curriculum Advisory Services Hindi Section on 15 May. The girls performed a Bharatnathiyam during the competition and attained second place in the secondary category.

    Outrigger Fiji Beach Resort

    Chefs Challenge 2017

    Ten students of Tilak High School competed in various vegetarian and non - vegetarian dishes along with cake decoration at this years Outrigger Fiji Beach Resort Chefs Challenge. Rakshita Dayal of Year 1305 attained third place in the cake decoration competition while many other prizes were won during the lucky dip rounds. These prizes were awarded by the Honourable Minister for Health & Social Services, Ms Rosy Akbar. At this juncture, it’s apt to mention that our principal Mr Sashi Bhupendra Singh is the person behind the inception of this Chefs Challenge.

     

    International Mother Tongue Day

    Competition

    Romitesh Chand of Year 1302, won the Senior Category Essay Competition organized by the University of the South Pacific to mark the International Mother Tongue Day. His essay was written in Hindi. He was felicitated during the USP Open Day Programme and his prizes included, certificate, cash, and an years subscription of Babel Magazine for the school.
